THE ROSE

If it interests you...here you can observe the compass by which I navigate my life -- my philosophies and belief systems upon which I mostly live. I've traveled a great deal and met a vast array of people and changed my ideas very radically many times about many things, so my brain is not hardwired to one strict concept of anything. I've been turned 180 degrees more than once on serious matters; and I hope that, as I age, I continue to embrace wisdom and anything that might change my mind on any particular matter, rather than simply fossilize myself merely because it was my earliest exposure to something.
It's not meant to be a narcissistic diatribe, just a simple means for those who may want to know me a bit more intimately to do so.

LIFE AND DEATH

Trying to capsulize things like LIFE or DEATH seems silly.

So I won't bother.

Libraries are needed.

What I will say is that I don't consider human life to be sacred.

Life yes. But human life is not especially unique.

The world will shake us off like crumbs.

In the grand scheme of the universe (if there is a scheme),

you and I are small and insignificant and the need

to preserve the lives of billions of people because of some

aggrandized idea that we're hallowed is ridiculous.

Millions die everyday and aside from a few people close to them,

the rest of us don't know, don't want to know, don't care.

The only human life that matters to us is our own and perhaps

the lives of those immediately connected to us, and even then

-- let's face it most people treat themselves, their time

their lives and the lives of the people around them pretty horribly.

The 60-100 years we have most treat pretty frivolously,

not really concerned with what time they are wasting hour-to-hour.

There are horrible human beings who do nothing

and others who do something and most of it is to terrorize the rest of us.

Probably less than 10% of human life treats their life

as though it is amazing and makes sure that it spends every minute

maximizing that LIFE.

So death is not really that big a deal either.

There is no heaven, no hell, no reincarnation.

This is it!

One life.

The end.

That should be enough to make people adequately value that life.

Most don't.

What can you say about that?

Nothing.

It is how it has been since the dawn of time.

Bitch all you like and most people will get up and, without so much as

a moment to thank the cosmos they are still alive (and for the most

part healthy and abled)...will go through their day without regard to

what they are doing and what it will mean

when they're on their deathbed recollecting how much time they wasted.

Doing nothing.

Not really happy.

When they could have been.

Nothing is going to change this.

If it hasn't happened yet, it's not going to.

Whatever you think is or isn't after it, death still frightens us all.

Even if it's just done. Nothing.

Live every day like it's the last day of your life.

I love the movie "THE MIRACLE MILE".

If you haven't watched it, please do.

It's the "THE LAKE HOUSE" of 'time'.

Then watch "LUCY".

If, after those you still need to watch

"WANTED" and "GRAVITY" then watch those.

If, two days later, you're still wasting your life...shoot yourself in the head

and leave the water you'll drink, the food you'll eat, the air you'll breathe

and the people you didn't love the space you take up,

the things you gather to others who will hopefully genuinely LIVE.

Get up...LIVE.

Holy hell I can't even keep track of how many horrible,

horrible mistakes I've made!

Such horrible, horrible messes I've made!

Get back up.

Dust it off.

Don't let it kill you! Don't even let it slow you down.

And don't ever let the minimized value others around you have of you

and your life become yours.

Don't trudge through time towards death.

Open your eyes, open your mind, open your possibilities.

Say YES to them.

LIVE.

Or get the fuck out.
